Kia hiwa rā!, our very popular Te Reo Māori for teachers class is back for Term 3!


This course is taught by 3 qualified reo Māori teachers via Zoom. Classes are 1.5 hours per week for 9 weeks and are taught using a range of digital technologies, interactive games and practical exercises.

During this 9 week programme, you will learn:

  • An introduction to te reo Māori

  • Proper pronunciation of people/ places and things

  • Classroom language and common phrases you can use everyday

  • Tikanga 101 – Understanding common customary practices

  • How to incorporate reo and tikanga Māori into your curriculum areas and planning

  • Te reo Māori activities that can be used in the classroom to encourage the normalisation of te reo.

Our course aims to not only give you the content to learn te reo Māori but also encourages, supports and builds your confidence for you to use it in a practical manner – outside of the zoom!
You will also receive a digital course book and access to classroom resources that you can print off and use to enhance your own learning alongside your students. We will also show you how to create unique content that combines te reo Māori and your learning area.

A variety of class times are available beginning at 3.30pm and 1 class available at 5.30pm, 1 DAY a week (Simply choose which day of the week suits you best!). So no need to draw your work day out with an evening class.

Class options are:

  • Mondays - 3.30 - 5.00pm

  • Tuesday - 5.30 - 7.00pm

  • Wednesdays - 3.30-5.00pm

This course has been designed with enjoyment and practicality in mind! Classes are fun and interactive, and you are able to learn alongside a community of teachers all wanting to expand their knowledge.

There is a maximum of 20 participants per class so your learning needs and enjoyment are paramount! The cost for this 9 week programme is $180 per person.
