Rerekaimahi

Actor-Emphatics

This resource teaches learners how to emphasise who did the action using actor-emphatic Rerekaimahi structures.

Ākonga learn patterns that show responsibility and agency.

  • Use Nā… i… for past actions and achievements

  • Use Mā… e… for future actions and intention

  • Apply actor emphasis to clarify who is responsible for what

  • Practise through tasks like “who did it?”, interview-style kōrero, confession cards, and team challenge reporting

By the end of this resource, learners can use Rerekaimahi structures to clearly communicate who did what.
