Te Reo ki Tua

Te Reo Māori Programme

A multi-level te reo Māori programme supporting Toi Moana kaimahi to build fluency, apply cultural values, and engage confidently with iwi, hapū, and regional contexts.

Te Reo ki Tua is a multi-level te reo Māori programme designed for kaimahi at Toi Moana – Bay of Plenty Regional Council. The programme supports learners to move beyond foundational reo into more confident, fluent, and context-specific language use, grounded in the unique cultural and environmental landscape of the Toi Moana region.

Across Taumata 1–4, learners develop increasing confidence in sentence construction, pronunciation, and conversational fluency, while deepening their understanding of tikanga, Māori values, and iwi relationships. The programme integrates tribal narratives, regional histories, and environmental perspectives, enabling participants to connect their reo learning directly to their professional roles.

With a strong focus on practical application, Te Reo ki Tua supports kaimahi to use te reo Māori meaningfully in workplace interactions, engage respectfully with iwi and hapū, and align their work with principles of kaitiakitanga and culturally responsive practice.
