A tailored te reo Māori and cultural capability programme supporting primary industry professionals to engage confidently and respectfully with Māori stakeholders.

Te Ara Haumako is a bespoke te reo Māori and cultural capability programme designed for members of the New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management (NZIPIM). Developed specifically for professionals in the farming and agriculture sector, the programme supports participants to build foundational knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori in a way that is relevant, practical, and aligned to their industry context.

Delivered through a flexible online format, the programme enables busy professionals to engage in meaningful learning while balancing their existing commitments. Participants develop confidence in pronunciation, basic language use, and culturally responsive engagement, alongside a deeper understanding of tikanga and Māori values.

Te Ara Haumako supports participants to strengthen their ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Māori stakeholders, contributing to more culturally competent relationships and practices across the primary industries sector. The programme also contributes to participants’ ongoing professional development requirements within NZIPIM.
